The Härtsfeld Even today the plateau of the Härtsfeld is thinly populated due to its meagre soil, poor water courses and rough climate. This way the landscape around Neresheim Abbey kept a lot of its originality, vastness and quiet as well as its rare flora and fauna.
Well-signposted bicycle paths and hiking trails make this countryside accessible. The little town of Neresheim is located along the Swabian Jura Road. The sign of the carline thistle leads to a well-developped road network with trips worth seeing, like the historical old cities of Nördlingen or Dinkelsbühl. A visit to the Neresheim Local Heritage Museum and a trip on the historical Härtsfeld Museum Train along the foot of the abbey are extremely worthwhile. Â
